Pretty Wild

Here's another 'could you even imagine' five years ago... I'll be preaching another sermon on January 18...pretty wild, huh?

This came up today, so I only have 2 weeks to stress about it this time - that's a good thing! Keep me in your thoughts :-)

I'll be preaching on sharing the gifts of the Holy Spirit - I'm working with a whole puzzle/Scrabble theme - we'll see if it comes together

Random Thoughts

I cannot believe Jonathan is 21! I said to Rick - "Remember when we babysat him that weekend (and slept with him between us because the heat went out)?"

I have facebooked him a birthday message - it's gotta be annoying to get a facebook from your Aunt, but what the hey, they can't all be from Val.

Pat and Don - Happy Anniversary!

Feel free to add kids or husbands to the blog - I just don't know everyone's email addresses to invite them. You all have Author permissions, so if the blog look changes radically one day, it might not be me. I'd like everyone invitedto be able to post, so I think they all have to be authors. Clearly my understanding of all this is rudimentary at best...
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PAT AND DON!

My babies...

Christmas - the aftermath

After a great Christmas at home, we went over to a friends house for dinner and another house for dessert. (I felt so old, everyone else was around 30!). It was a good time, and a reasonably good substitute for the family Christmas.

Unfortunately, Joe was sick, then Julie, and now it looks like Rick. It starts with a sore throat...

Luckily, school is out for another week, so they should be recovered by then.

I am reveling in 4 days off, and a short workweek next week, although, like Pam, I am grateful to be employed.

I'll be thinking of everyone tomorrow. I really wish I could be there!

Downey update

Paris - wow! Could you imagine even thinking that 5 years ago???!!!

Downey Christmas was pretty low-key this year - which is fine - we are both very grateful to be gainfully employed as we approach the new year. Santa brought Jonathan a subscription to some online thing (Dad is the expert for online), Tyler received a flash drive and Mark received an XBox game. Santa also brought Tyler a new pair of shoes - which was really cool of Santa since Tyler has had his sneakers since school started last year.

Santa brought Mark a movie gift card since - wait for it - he has his first girlfriend. He has been doing extra chores to earn money for a date that's not just meeting at youth group.

Of course the big day coming up in the Downey house is - how scary is this - Jonathan's 21st birthday. We won't actually get to see him on his birthday - he and Jaime have a whole weekend planned that, surprisingly, does not include us!

Will update more when I get a chance.

When do you go to Paris?

Pam

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone. I know we've tried this before, but it doesn't hurt to try again! We've had a wonderful Christmas here. The big gift (for me) was a trip to Paris! Rick has bought tickets and reserved room for us for a long weekend, sans kids.

Julie got a Cosplay costume - I'll post a picture - and Joe got a graphics card.

Tomorrow is Boxing Day. Most things are closed, but just like home, there are some sales going on. As if we haven't shopped enough already...
